Eric Carle strives for visual narrative, whether illustrating one of his own ideas or well-loved tales of the past. His books reflect the child’s desire to explore their world and make discoveries on their own. These exhibits explore some of his many characters and the new discoveries they make.

Eric Carle

Eric Carle illustrated brilliant and innovatively designed picture books for children, including his most well-known title, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In 2002, Carle and his wife, Barbara, co-founded The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.
